“Composer and pianist Holly McMahon is the B2 Resident Artist at The TANK in May 2025, arriving on the 13th and leaving on the 18th.  A CU Boulder undergraduate in music composition, Holly will record and perform a set of pieces written for upright bass, field recordings, and found forest percussion.

Holly’s pieces will range in style and celebrate various under-appreciated species, such as lichen, bacteria found in soil, and fungi that aid in decomposition. The music explore the concept of communication between these forest-dwelling microorganisms, which are crucial to the health of Colorado ecosystems.

Coming to Rangely with Holly will be double bassist Asher Dobrin, who is currently pursuing a bachelor’s in music composition and chamber music performance at the University of Colorado, Boulder.

This free concert comes at the close of her residency and presents the work Holly and Asher create at The TANK.”
